Selecting Coconut-Shell Carbon for a Water Filter: Match the Grade to the Duty
Activated Carbon buying guide · Coconut-Shell Activated Carbon
A coconut-shell carbon specification for water filters needs the particle size, flow conditions and target contaminants. For cartridges, include the retention screens and filling arrangement; for bulk beds, include vessel dimensions and operating flow.
Define what the filter must do
Identify the inlet water and the outlet objective. Taste-and-odor control, an organic contaminant target and a specialist process-water duty should not be treated as the same trial. State the contact arrangement and the amount of water the evaluation will treat.
Approve the exact supplied grade
Request the particle range, relevant adsorption data and mechanical-property information for the proposed grade. Review any certification or test report against its product scope; evidence for a different carbon or assembled filter cannot simply be transferred. Keep a reference sample for later batch comparisons.
What to record before approval
- Name the treatment objective before specifying raw material.
- Check compatibility with filter retention and flow.
- Review product-specific documents and confirm their scope.
