Water-Washed GAC Commissioning: Record Rinsing and Outlet Quality Together
Activated Carbon buying guide · Water-Washed Activated Carbon
When commissioning water-washed GAC, record the carbon batch, loading procedure, rinse flow and outlet quality. These readings help the plant team identify start-up fines, check the filter and decide when to begin normal operation.
Follow the applicable instructions
Follow the grade-specific wetting and rinsing instructions and the vessel manufacturer’s flow limits. Record the quantity loaded and each rinse stage. Carbon washed before delivery still needs the start-up procedure specified for the installed filter.
Create a baseline
Measure outlet quality and pressure drop at defined intervals. Retain a sample of the delivered carbon and its batch report. Persistent particles call for a check of the support screens, flow distribution and loading procedure.
What to record before approval
- Record loading and start-up steps against the exact grade.
- Observe outlet quality at defined commissioning stages.
- Keep a baseline for later operating comparisons.
