Activated Carbon for PVC Manufacturing

Specify the production route, carbon function and acceptance criteria before selecting a grade for PVC manufacturing.

PVC Manufacturing — Application Overview

PVC production routes do not all use carbon in the same way. A project may involve a defined catalyst-carrier requirement or a process-purification duty. These should be specified and evaluated as separate applications.

How Carbon Is Used

For a carrier duty, the carbon is selected around the catalyst system and its specified physical and chemical requirements. For purification, selection follows the contaminants and process stream. ARBONYX discusses the carbon material against the buyer’s specification; catalyst supply must be confirmed separately.

Selection Priorities

Production route

Identify the route and the precise location and function of the carbon.

Carbon requirements

Review particle size, strength, pore requirements and purity limits.

Process compatibility

Include the catalyst or stream chemistry and agreed grade-acceptance tests.

Grade Parameters & Purchasing Brief

Identify the PVC production route and the carbon’s function. Distinguish process purification from catalyst-carrier duties and provide the relevant material specification.

Carbon dutySpecified carrier function or identified purification duty.
Route and conditionsProcess chemistry, operating conditions and equipment.
Physical propertiesParticle distribution, strength and agreed pore-related tests.
Purity requirementsAsh, moisture, impurities and applicable compatibility checks.
Supply scopeCarbon-only or other requested scope, trial quantity and documents.

Industry Uses

Carbon requirements depend on where it is used in the PVC process. A purification grade and a catalyst carrier require different acceptance tests.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a carbon inquiry include a finished catalyst?

State the requested supply scope explicitly. A carbon material specification does not establish that a finished catalyst or catalyst chemistry is included.

What should I include in a sample request?

Provide the production route, carbon duty and existing specification. Include particle size, impurity limits and the planned test method for the sample.

Plan Your Carbon Evaluation

Send the required carbon form, technical specification and order quantity. Include packing, batch-document requirements and delivery destination.
