Wood-based powdered carbon removes unwanted color from process liquids. A useful trial measures color reduction, product quality and filtration behavior at defined doses and contact times.

Define both sides of the result

State the color measurement and any product-quality checks that must remain acceptable. Record concentration, pH, temperature and solids. A trial on a diluted substitute may not reproduce the real process, particularly when filtration or product retention influences the outcome.

Include separation in the comparison

Evaluate the powder in the intended contact-and-filtration sequence. Record the dose and contact time alongside filtration behavior and the final liquid result. If two grades give similar color removal, handling and separation evidence can help the buyer decide which candidate deserves a controlled production trial.

Include color measurement and filtration in the same trial

For a decolorization comparison, use an agreed color measurement and a consistent untreated reference. Record mixing, contact duration and the point at which carbon is separated from the liquid. If the liquid changes in temperature or composition during production, document those conditions rather than applying one trial result to every batch.

Inspect the filtrate and the separation step as part of the evaluation. Powder that produces an acceptable color reading may still require changes to filtration or handling. Record filter loading, any carryover and the practical work needed to reproduce the trial before choosing a wood-based powdered grade for routine use.

Link the wood-carbon sample to the process brief

Use the trial to define carbon dose, contact time and filtration requirements. Record the accepted product-quality limits with the sample and grade reference.
