Food-processing carbon needs to meet the purification duty and the quality requirements of the product. Review the offered wood-carbon grade, contact conditions and required documents before a production trial.

Define contact and removal

Describe the process liquid, operating conditions and how the carbon will be removed. Agree the analysis needed for both the treated product and any residual particulate. Do not transfer a statement about one carbon grade to another material simply because both are wood-based.

Keep the sample approval complete

Link the trial sample to the offered specification and document the acceptance method. Review supporting evidence for its actual product and intended-use scope. Commercial approval should include the process evaluation, receiving checks and change-control requirements, rather than relying on an unsupported blanket food-grade label.

Identify the actual food-processing stage, contact liquid and destination market in the sample brief. Request documents covering the offered grade and intended use, and ask the responsible compliance team to assess their scope. A supplier document for another grade or a general material description is not enough to approve the specific application.

Agree which quality attributes must remain unchanged after treatment, alongside the intended purification goal. Keep sensory, appearance or process-quality checks tied to the defined trial where relevant. The purchasing decision should connect grade identity, sample results and the required documentation without inferring a food-use approval from the wood-based source alone.

Link the wood-carbon sample to the process brief

List the required purity tests and documents in the purchase specification. Keep the approved grade and sample identity traceable to the material used in the food-processing trial.
